Our Community Activities

In addition to our ongoing annual art show and exhibits, the Wilmington Art Association hosts and participates in numerous events around the Wilmington area. There is a selection of committees to join if you’re so inclined. We work with the New Hanover Arts Council, The Friends of the New Hanover Arboretum, local galleries and businesses to exhibit member art throughout the year, as well as with the local schools to show our community’s budding artists’ work and encourage their participation in all the arts.

2023 Art in the Arboretum

As the Art in the Arboretum enters its 28th year, it has continued to evolve with the changing economy, the wants of the community, and hard work from the Friends of the Arboretum, and Wilmington Art Association.
Last year we unveiled our transitional show that contained both the traditional gallery and festival-style aspects. This year the Art in the Arboretum will only be a festival-style show where Artists rent their individual booth spaces.

Along with these changes, we have lots of new aspects of the show with the opening reception, “Sip, Savor, and Shop” on Friday night from 5-8 pm, our New VIP tickets program, cash awards for the top three, show partners, and advertising partners. WAA is now a VIP member of the New Hanover County Arboretum!

WAA is pleased to support the Art in Arboretum activities by becoming a VIP Sponsor to this year’s event. As a VIP sponsor WAA will receive considerable advertizing from the Arboretum in advance of the event, and the WAA logo will be printed on a limited number of VIP bags which will be given out to customers who upgrade their $25 ticket to the $254 VIP ticket. WAA will also receive 4 memberships to the Arboretum, three of which will be raffled and available to anyone attending the June picnic. One membership may be set aside for the winner of this year’s Quick Draw event at the picnic.
